The Safran office building in Malakoff, a joint construction with Batipart was named the best BIM project at the Tekla BIM Awards France 2020!

Constructed with Batipart, the Safran building in Malakoff was designed by Studios Architecture. The Jury’s Special Award points to the know-how and expertise in BIM honed by the GA Group and Studios Architecture.

Last but not least, as laureates of the Tekla BIM Awards France 2020, we have been admitted to compete at the Tekla Global BIM Awards 2020, World level, the results of which will be unveiled in the autumn.

FullBIM for Safran’s offices in Malakoff

In choosing the Safran office building in Malakoff for its Special Award, the jury paid tribute to the full-BIM management applied to the entire project and highlighted the structure’s originality, level of difficulty (geometry, attachments, etc.), overall aesthetics and use of interoperability and BIM methods, which brought all the real estate professions together to work with a wide range of different BIM software.

Described as uncategorisable by the jury, the project models prefabricated elements, cast-in-place structures, metalworks and construction site installations. Tekla Model Sharing was used by the teams, working simultaneously to produce execution plans and chart out the construction process. The Tekla model was interfaced with the ERP used to manage the prefabrication production. Lastly, BIM synthesis was carried out using Trimble-designed software solutions, thanks to which many highly-detailed BIM models were generated, both in the office and on the site.

A unique off-site construction approach

The Safran office building in Malakoff will develop 22,000 m² and will be delivered in record time, by the end of 2021. Such tight deadlines can only be met thanks to our off-site industrial approach: from FullBIM modelling to the production of structural components, façades and comfort facilities in its factories. This unique approach thus guarantees quality construction and controlled timelines, as well as minimal environmental impact from the construction site.

Well-being and biophilia

In addition to its vast, flexible and modular office floors spread over its seven floors, the building will be home to numerous services that contribute to users’ well-being in the day-to-day (concierge service, modular meeting rooms, fitness, restaurant and cafeteria).

The building was designed with a strong biophilic approach: green balconies, terraces enhanced by an urban vegetable garden and a garden… nature has been largely brought into the project.

Attesting to the project’s ambition, the Safran office building in Malakoff will be seeking HQE^® High Performance certification and Effinergie + labelling as well as the “Well” Gold level label.

La Française Real Estate Managers (REM), on behalf of ERAFP (Etablissement de Retraite Additionnelle de la Fonction Publique) and two non-trading property investment companies (LF Grand Paris Patrimoine et Epargne Foncière), have acquired this office building from Batipart and its partners.
