Edward Auslander, Lord Corporation CEO, and Sébastien Matty, GA Smart Building President, recently laid the first stone for the future Fly-by-Wire Systems France building in Pont-de-l’Isère (26). The event took place in the presence of Marie-Claude Lambert, Mayor of Pont-de-l’Isère, Frédéric Sausset, President of the urban community and Mayor of Tournon, Denis Mathieu, Managing Director of Fly-By-Wire Systems France, Charmaine Riggins, Lord Corporation President for European sales and administration and Becky Williams, Lord Corporation Aerospace & Defense President.
Designed by the CDA Architectes agency, the industrial real estate complex incorporates a first building covering 8,000 m² of which 6,500 m² will be used as a manufacturing facility and 1,500 m² for offices. It is located in the heart of the Vinays ZAC (designated development area) in the Auvergne-Rhône Alpes region on a four hectare site that allows for the possibility of a future extension.
This project awarded to GA Smart Building will welcome the first European industrial production unit of Lord Corporation’s Fly-By-Wire Systems France subsidiary. By acquiring a new site, the American group has further reinforced its presence in the aeronautics sector. Fly-by-Wire Systems France develops and manufactures command systems for cockpits and absorbers as well as electromechanical sensors and actuators to be used in electric flight control systems for the commercial aviation sector.
On the basis of the specifications provide by Fly-By-Wire Systems France, GA has actively involved itself alongside its integrated OMEGA design office in a complete Lean Production approach in order to fully optimize the building’s configuration.
Over and above their bioclimatic design, the offices forming part of this real estate complex will be equipped with ultra-high performance equipment piloted by Galaxy Pilot®, the monitoring and piloting software developed by GA. Temperature, light and ventilation will thus be monitored and adjusted in real time in order to optimise the building’s comfort and environmental performance.
Like all projects carried out by GA Smart Building, the building shall be developed using BIM. Operating as a digital avatar for the building, the model will provide a unique understanding of the project at each stage of its construction: from design to construction in the factory and on site and including the operation of the building. On delivery, programmed for May 2018, the BIM model will bring together all information linked to the equipment, user manuals, maintenance guides and guarantees.
