We support the participation of “Unis-Vers…Elles” in the Raid Amazones 2022 in support of the CAP SAAA association for people with disabilities

04.03.2022

Najat Marsiac and Marie Gilmas, two female real estate professionals, are embarking on the Raid Amazones 2022, an athletic adventure challenge with a humanitarian mission in Sri Lanka, with our support and that of JLL, for the CAP SAAA association (CAP Sur Aventure, Art, Amitié [Towards Adventure, Art, Friendship]), co-founded by the paralympic athlete, Ryadh Sallem.

Raid Amazones, a 100% female adventure based on solidarity

Raid Amazones is a 6-day multisport challenge for women, combining several disciplines: running, mountain biking, kayaking, archery and run & bike. In total immersion in nature and in teams of 2 or 3, the 300 “Amazones” take part in a series of sporting events each morning, followed by activities focused on meeting the local population in the afternoon.

Since 2001, the Raids have been held every year in a different destination: Mayotte, Malaysia, Bali, California, Cambodia and this year, for the 20th anniversary of Raid Amazones, Sri Lanka!

Marie Gilmas and Najat Marsiac, two women from the real estate industry, are taking up the challenge of participating in the Raid Amazones 2022 in Sri Lanka and will form, with our support and that of their employer, JLL, the “Les Unies-vers…Elles” team! Marie, 55, has been working for JLL for 16 years, advising buyers and sellers of buildings under development. Najat, 45, has been with JLL for more than 20 years, where she leads the analyst team. To meet the challenge, they have been training tirelessly for several months. The training programme includes running in the Parc Monceau in Paris or in the Bois de Boulogne, kayaking on the Seine at the Pont d’Epinay with the Kayak Club of Gennevilliers, archery with the Saint-Pierre Montmartre archery company in Clichy and cycling at the weekend and to the office during the week!

GA Smart Building and JLL, committed supporters of the “Unies-Vers…Elles” participation in Raid Amazones 2022

We support Najat and Marie in their athletic and solidarity challenge by covering material costs (accommodation, sportswear, banner, etc.). And more than that, our Paris teams and those of JLL are getting involved and will be training alongside them, in particular during two running sessions, one at the Parc Monceau in Paris, and the other at Emile Anthoine stadium in the 15th arrondissement with Ryadh Sallem. Sallem, a top athlete and the 2022 European Wheelchair Rugby Champion, is also a community activist, a Social and Solidarity Economy entrepreneur, a Paris 2024 Ambassador and co-founder of the CAP SAAA association, and will be their coach for the occasion!

All donations collected by the “Unies-Vers…Elles” team will be donated to the CAP SAAA association

With our and JLL’s support, Marie and Najat will take part in the Raid Amazones and champion the cause of people with disabilities by collecting donations which will be directly and entirely donated to the CAP SAAA association. Co-founded in 1995 by Ryadh Sallem, CAP SAAA’s mission is to promote a vision of disability that is both empowering and meaningful, strengthen social ties and create a reality worthy of living together, set an example in terms of inclusive practices and encourage fundamental values of peace and social fulfilment. The association also aims to facilitate access to sport for people with disabilities.

Donations will be used to fund:

  • sports chairs adapted for disabled users,
  • work in rehabilitation centres,
  • prevention and awareness initiatives for schools and training,
  • basketball and chair rugby practice and competitions.

If you wish to support CAP SAAA’s cause through Marie and Najat’s participation in the Raid Amazones 2022, a kitty HelloAsso/CAP SAAA is open for donations (entitling you to an income tax reduction).

From the Cité Universelle in Paris, an emblem of universal accessibility, to Raid Amazones

Ryadh Sallem, CAP SAAA, GA Smart Building and JLL: a fantastic partnership born from the Cité Universelle in Paris. This is where the name of the team formed by Najat and Marie came from: “Les Unies-Vers…Elles”!

Developed by GA Smart Building and marketed by JLL, Cité Universelle, a 30,000-m² building complex at Porte de Pantin in Paris was designed as a symbol of universal accessibility, under the leadership of Ryadh Sallem. This manifesto project for an inclusive city accessible to all, with or without disabilities, was designed by the Baumschlager Eberle Architekten and Studio Montazami agencies.

Cité Universelle comprises a number of centres: a sports centre with multi-purpose sports hall, a health centre that will serve both the daily needs of Cité Universelle users and local residents, the “work’in” centre that will house a coworking space, offices and the laboratory of the Handitech association, and a hospitality centre with 109 rooms. The rooftop’s agricultural production will supply the company restaurant as well as the restaurant and grocery shop on the ground floor, which will be open to local residents and, more broadly, to those living in the Paris region.

Within the sports centre, a multi-purpose modular hall of almost 3,800 m² will serve as a training area for the CAP SAAA adapted sports club.
