The family-owned Würth group, which specialises in professional tools, kicked off the extension and modernisation of its logistics platform in the ZAC des Portes de Provence industrial estate in Montélimar. Anouk Golly, Chairman of the Management Board of Würth France, Claude Kopff, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, and Julien Fossat, Logistics Director of Würth Montélimar, attended the event.
The upgrade of the existing 25,000 m² logistics platform and its 5,600 m² extension were designed by Sight and carried out by the GA Smart Building teams in the occupied site. The works were part of a major project called “Evolog 2030” aimed at boosting the Group’s logistics capacity.
The modernisation of Würth France’s existing logistics platform meets the challenges of integrating the group’s processes and mechanisation. It also considers the environmental challenges posed by global warming and threats to living organisms, with particular attention paid to water management on the plot.
The modernisation and extension work carried out by GA Smart Building has enabled the facility to prepare for the constraints imposed by changes in the regulations governing Installations Classées pour la Protection de l’Environnement (ICPE) (classified facilities for environmental protection), increasing storage volume and adapting to changes in business activity.
The off-site construction processes used for the extension, including the production of the framework and joinery at the factory before transport and on-site assembly, enabled Würth France’s logistics platform to continue operating throughout the works. Off-site construction also ensured a reduction in all types of nuisance for on-site employees.
The extension’s structural elements were produced in the Group’s Prega concrete prefabrication plants and Paquet Fontaine joinery façade manufacturing plant, before being transported to the site for assembly.
In addition to reducing nuisance, this industrial approach to construction, integrated from the design phase onwards, also reduces environmental impact and shortens construction times. The extension to Würth’s logistics platform was delivered in the last quarter of 2023 after just one year of work. The modernisation of the existing part was finalised in early 2024.
