In the course of the last 40 years, the productivity of the construction industry in France has decreased by 10%, while it has doubled for all other industries. The current methods of construction have been used for thousands of years and the real estate industry must adapt to technological advances and modernise its way of building homes, offices, public buildings and infrastructure.
Hors-site® construction is one of the answers that are necessary to face this problem. A genuine revolution, it is the future of construction and has already established itself in many countries around the world (United States, Great Britain, Singapore…) because of the many benefits that it presents. The industrialisation of construction offers the possibility of effectively producing elements in a factory, by using a skilled workforce, which works in good conditions of safety and then quickly assembling these elements on site. This approach allows optimisation of timescales and the quality of execution on worksites while limiting nuisance and environmental impacts.
The training courses taught in the schools, whether they are architecture or engineering ones, or for all real estate and building trades, provide training on methods centred around the site. These methods are no longer adapted to a more industrial approach to construction and do not allow all the potential of off-site construction to be exploited. It therefore appears essential to offer, as has already been done in England, training centred on the industrialisation of construction, to properly understand the keys to success of the model.
The Hors-Site® Campus has therefore been created to offer training courses to all stakeholders in the production chain. It is a free online learning platform, enriched by a library of educational content, which helps the whole production chain assimilate the techniques of off-site construction.
The Hors-Site® Campus trains in 5 areas: design, production in the factory, logistics, site management and maintenance. After a self-evaluation, a programme of personalised learning will be proposed, enabling everyone to progress in their knowledge of Hors-Site® construction.
Many workshops and meetings will be offered throughout the year to all stakeholders wishing to train in Hors-Site® construction.
We have the firm conviction that it is possible to modernise the construction industry, together, thanks to the collaboration and the education of all - businesses, suppliers, contractors and sub-contractors. We propose to train these stakeholders to improve their techniques and encourage them to use new technologies and methods.
