GA Smart Building has delivered the new production facility for IDEMIA Secure Transactions (IST), the global leader in payment and connectivity solutions, in Vitré, Brittany. The site was inaugurated in the presence of several elected officials and state representatives, including Deputy Prefect Gilles Traimond, Member of the European Parliament Isabelle Le Callennec, President of the Community of Municipalities Teddy Régnier, and Mayor of Vitré Pierre Léonardi.
This new facility will enable IDEMIA Secure Transactions—based in Vitré for over thirty years—to expand the production of bank cards, SIM cards, NFC cards, and automotive modules for French and European companies.
The project was developed by GA Smart Building following a developer/investor consultation launched by IDEMIA to construct its new industrial site, for which a building permit had already been secured. IDEMIA, GA Smart Building, and Sight Architecture then redefined the program and developed a turnkey design solution before obtaining a new building permit. Construction began in February 2023, with delivery scheduled for April 2024.
Designed by Sight Architecture, the site will host nearly 500 IDEMIA Secure Transactions employees. It consists of a mixed-use office and industrial building covering 8,300 m², including 5,550 m² of production space and 2,750 m² of office space. It also features an outdoor parking area with more than 200 spaces, topped with solar panel canopies contributing to the site’s energy autonomy.
The logistics zone, green spaces, and parking area have been carefully designed to blend into the existing landscape. To reinforce the integration of the building into its natural surroundings, 70 trees were planted, highlighting the harmony between the site’s clean architectural lines and the surrounding environment.
Like all GA Smart Building projects, the new IDEMIA Secure Transactions factory was delivered using the company’s off-site construction method, enabling the completion of 8,300 m² in just 14 months. The building is aligned with the European Taxonomy criteria and has earned BREEAM “Very Good” certification.
